Guidelines

Such students must first enroll in an LM-degree program – which is also called a “Second Cycle Degree Programme” in Italy.  This must be done according to the Regulation announced  by the Sapienza University in July, following and in accordance with the Ministry of Education and Research’s (MIUR’s) issuance of its yearly inter-ministerial notice, which occurs between March and June each year.

The link for the current academic year (http://www.uniroma1.it/didattica/regolamenti/manifesto-degli-studi-regole-procedure-scadenze), containing the pertinent information provides for the requirements students must possess to enter any Second Cycle Degree program at the Sapienza, including those regarding:

• the curriculum undertaken in their undergraduate studies;
• sufficient academic achievement or the opportunity to demonstrate such adequacy through a test.

It also provides detailed information on how to apply for the enrolment, including specific provisions for students coming from universities other than the Sapienza.

It delineates the specific Requisites at Article 21 (http://www.uniroma1.it/node/5946), which, in English, provides (http://en.uniroma1.it/study-us/undergraduate/admissions/second-cycle) that:

Candidates applying to a Second Cycle Degree Programme must possess a university degree (or equivalent post-secondary academic title). It must be translated and then officially legalised by an Italian Consulate or Embassy that will also issue a Declaration of Value (http://www.study-in-italy.it/studying/info-07.html).

Mandatory Documents for all Citizens with Foreign Academic Titles

1. Certified copy of your high school diploma (translated, legalized and accompanied by a Declaration of Value issued by an Italian Consulate or Embassy in the country where the title was issued;
2. One certified photocopy and one simple photocopy of your University Degree (translated, legalized and with a Declaration of Value, as above);
3. One certified photocopy and one simple photocopy of your Academic Transcript issued by your university and listing all exams taken (translated and legalized by  an Italian Consulate or Embassy in the country where the title was issued);
4. One photocopy (in the original language) of the detailed university study plan for each single subject together with the total number of hours required (theory and practice) to obtain the degree;
5. Copy of your ID (Identity Card) or Passport
6. Copy of Residence Permit and Reasons for issue. If you are renewing your residence permit, you will need a photocopy of your expired residence permit and the post office receipt for your renewal application. (ONLY for Non-EU Citizens);
7. Copy of your Study Visa. (ONLY for non-EU Citizens resident abroad).

Please note: Applications lacking any of these documents will be rejected.

EU students and EU equivalent students may replace the Declaration of Value with the Diploma Supplement for academic qualifications issued by institutes in the European Higher Education Area (Bologna Process) and self-certify their qualifications and the exams they have passed.

The assessment of curricular requirements, competences and skills for the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering are found at this link:

There is no entrance examination for this LM enrolment.

Non-EU students resident abroad must take an Italian language test.

Completing Your Enrolment

After having provided all the necessary documentation, you must complete your enrolment.  Register with InfoStud; (at this link, https://stud.infostud.uniroma1.it/Sest/Log/,  you will see the word “Registrazione”; click on it, and then you will have the option to choose the English language through an icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page).

1. Pay applicable enrolment fees;
2. Present the following documents to the Student Administration Office;

• Payment receipt for enrolment fees;
• Copy of your ID or Passport;
• Copy of your VISA for study reasons (only for non-EU students resident abroad);
• Copy of your residence permit or application receipt (only for non-EU equivalent students and non-EU students resident abroad);
• Legalized and translated academic title and official transcript;
• Declaration of Value from Embassy or Consulate.

The deadline for submitting all the required documents is generally in mid-December, and is provided for in the Regulation that is issued in July.  Students may attend classes in the fall semester while completing the application process, submitting proper documents, and awaiting the assessment of the academic commission at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering for admission to the LM program.

To participate in the Georgia Tech - La Sapienza dual degree in Mechanical Engineering, the pre-application, stating your intention to participate, must be submitted by the 1st of January of that same academic year.  Your application must be completed and submitted by 1 February so as to attend the fall semester of the following academic year at Georgia Tech’s Lorraine campus in Metz, and the following spring semester at Georgia Tech’s Atlanta campus.
